Healthy Headwaters Champion Receives National Award

Huzzahs to Karl!

A terrific benefit of working at Carpe Diem West is being inspired daily by the leaders in our network – smart, determined, thoughtful experts in their respective fields. We take every opportunity we can to highlight the work of this talented group.

Singling out Karl Morgenstern, one of these network leaders, may seem a bit redundant. In this case though we want to give him an extra “huzzah!”

Yesterday, Karl was one of the of the 15 people honored by the US Forest Service’s Rise to the Future Award for his nationally significant watershed protection work.

An Environmental Supervisor at Eugene Water & Electric Board, Karl has been the driver behind an innovative program to protect the McKenzie River and the private and public lands it runs through.

The Forest Service’s national review panel also cited Karl for his ability to reach out and connect with a broad spectrum of stakeholders and agencies.

With the Carpe Diem West network, Karl is a valued expert and advisor as we develop innovative solutions to source water protection in the American West.

From all of us – congratulations, Karl!
